Tim Walz Faces FBI Probe Over Alleged Ties to CCP and Fraudulent Programs

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz is under intense scrutiny as the FBI launches a multi-pronged investigation into his administration, following a “shock discovery” of alleged fraud and foreign influence. On September 16, 2025, House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer renewed demands for FBI Director Christopher Wray to disclose documents on Walz’s extensive ties to Chinese Communist Party (CCP)-affiliated entities, citing over 30 visits to China and partnerships with organizations like the Beijing Genomics Institute. Comer labeled the FBI’s silence “inexcusable,” accusing Walz of engaging in influence operations that threaten national security.

The probe intensified with federal raids on five Twin Cities housing providers last week, uncovering a “massive scheme” defrauding Minnesota’s Housing Stabilization Services program, which aids vulnerable adults with Medicaid funds. This marks the third major fraud case under Walz: the $250 million Feeding Our Future scandal in 2022 and an autism therapy probe in January 2025. Critics, including Republicans, blame lax oversight, with Comer demanding records on Walz’s role. Walz defended his administration, calling the fraud “unacceptable” but emphasizing efforts to root it out.

Adding fuel, a letter from accused assassin Vance Boelter—charged with murdering former House Speaker Melissa Hortman and her husband in June—allegedly claims Walz ordered hits on lawmakers, including Sen. Amy Klobuchar. Authorities dismissed it as “delusional,” but it has amplified calls for accountability. Walz’s reelection launch on September 16, vowing to combat gun violence, now faces this shadow.

Democrats decry the scrutiny as partisan, while Republicans argue it’s overdue. As midterms loom, the investigations could derail Walz’s national ambitions, exposing vulnerabilities in Democratic governance.
