In the wake of conservative activist Charlie Kirk’s assassination on September 10, 2025, a Pennsylvania public school teacher has ignited outrage with a social media post labeling him a “white nationalist mouthpiece” who deserves no empathy. Amanda Dodson, an emotional support teacher at Reynolds Middle School in the School District of Lancaster, reposted a statement shortly after Kirk was fatally shot by a sniper at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah. The post, from a far-left page, read: “Charlie Kirk was a racist, xenophobic, transphobic, Islamophobic, sexist, white nationalist mouthpiece who made millions inciting hatred in this country.”
Emotional support teachers assist students with behavioral challenges, making Dodson’s comments particularly inflammatory amid national mourning. Kirk, 31, founder of Turning Point USA, was a polarizing figure known for mobilizing young conservatives on issues like immigration and election integrity. His death, the first political assassination since 1968, drew tributes from President Trump, who called him a “warrior,” and former President Obama, who condemned the violence. Kirk left behind his wife and two children.
The post, highlighted by conservative accounts, prompted swift backlash, with calls for Dodson’s dismissal. The School District of Lancaster issued a statement on September 11, affirming it does not endorse such views and is investigating, while increasing police presence at schools due to online threats. Dodson’s accounts were deactivated by September 12, and she has not responded to inquiries.
Critics argue the remarks reflect broader leftist intolerance, while supporters of the post defend it as critiquing Kirk’s rhetoric, which included promoting the “great replacement” theory and opposing affirmative action. The incident has led to similar disciplinary actions against teachers nationwide, raising questions about free speech in education during politically charged times.
