In a bombshell appearance in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee, which sent the internet ablaze, Kash Patel revealed new details about Nancy Pelosi’s role in the infamous January 6th riots. While speaking with Republican Senator Ted Cruz (TX), Patel stated that Pelosi had blocked Trump from deploying the National Guard on that fateful day, indicating her complicity in the scandal.
As background, the clip comes from a January 30, 2025, Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on Kash Patel’s nomination for FBI Director. In the fraught hearing, Patel faced tough questions about his criticisms of the FBI and his views on the January 6 protests.
As we previously reported, while responding to Sen. Cruz’s questions, Patel discussed his actions on January 6th. He stated, “On that day, specifically responding to preparing to mobilize and deploy the National Guard once we got the lawful request from the local governing authority, which was the mayor of DC and the Speaker of the House.”
Providing additional context, Patel explained that preparations were made days in advance. He said, “Senator, we were in the Oval Office on an unrelated national security matter with the president of the United States, the Secretary of Defense, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and myself, and the President authorized up to 20,000 plus National Guardsmen and women to secure any security measures necessary related to the Capitol. So, we were moving to the fullest extent of the law before the requisite request came from a local governing authority.”
Continuing to ask insightful questions, Cruz inquired about the communications between the DOD and the Capitol Police. He asked, “And while you were Chief of Staff at DOD, how many times did DOD approach Capitol Police and ask if they needed National Guard assistance?”
Confidently answering, Patel said, “I believe those letters are well documented. There were numerous instances, and numerous of those instances, where those requests were shut down.” He also confirmed that the sergeant at arms, who reports to Nancy Pelosi, refused any assistance.
